About Providence Church: Welcome
A letter from the sponsors of the Providence Worldview Conference:
Greetings in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. We welcome you to the After Darkness, Light web page. We are so glad you are seeking information about the Providence Worldview Conference.
Like you, we desire to take every thought captive to the obedience of Christ so that we will have a God-honoring world and life view. The conviction that this is the need of the hour for the church of Jesus Christ is what drives us to sponsor this conference. It is our fervent prayer that our Lord will be pleased to use the teaching, discussion, and application of His Word to form, shape, and sharpen our worldviews so that Christ will be all in all, both in the His church and in His world.
The themes of our conferences in 2005 and 2007 have centered on a biblical worldview of children. Why this focus? We believe the crossroads of the most important worldview questions of our day have to do with how we think of our children, how we train our children, and how we honor and obey the Lord with our children. Statistics show that the church is losing her children to the world. The church is weak without the next generation standing boldly and confidently living for Christ, pressing His claims in the world and trumpeting His Word. Regaining a biblical worldview of the church’s children is, we believe, among the most pressing issues with which the church must grapple. Christians must repent of the ways she has been unfaithful toward the church’s children and begin to train them to live for Christ in the world.
The theme of our conference this year is Recovering Covenant Succession in the Church and Home. The Protestant Reformers used the Latin phrase Post Tenebras Lux (“after darkness, light”) to describe the illumining work God did in the 16th century to bring the Word of God to bear on Europe. We believe a new dawning of the light of truth will come in our day as Christians embrace their God-given responsibility to train their children for the glory of God and begin to see that our children are the means by which God will make His name known in all the earth.
We invite you to spend some time at the After Darkness, Light webpage. And we also invite you to register for the conference, which is scheduled for February 16-17, 2007, in sunny Pensacola, Florida. We would love to meet you and receive you at the conference. We promise that you will not be disappointed, but you will be encouraged, challenged, and equipped as your worldview is shaped by the Word of God.
Your servants in Christ,
Pastors David G. Bryant and Alan B. Stout
